THE "HOT STREAK" PILOTS

While "Bruce Forsyth's Hot Streak" didn't enjoy a long life on the air, the concept of the show has been made into a while variety of pilots. First, in 1983, "Party Line" with Gene Rayburn was taped. After around a year or so, in October of 1984, Reg Grundy recorded 3 pilots, under the title "Hot Streak". This information is about pilots 2 & 3.

On Hot Streak Pilot #2, the teams were Jenny, Susan, Karen, Becky and Wonda, playing against Jack, Scott, Peter, Patrick, and Peter. On the third pilot episode, the teams were Wonda, Martha, Robin, Jenny and Taffy, versus Lance, Brian, Bob, Peter and Jack. Scott in the #2 pilot was goofy. He'd dance to the music playing in the headphones! (And ironically, the word they were describing was "Bubbles". Go figure, eh? :)

Pilots #2 & #3 were played in exactly the same manner. In the maingame, rounds 1 and 2 were worth $100 per transfer, and in round 3, each transition was worth $200 a piece. The bonus round values were $300 a piece for the first two rounds (earning a total of $2400), and the 3rd game was worth 10 times the amount earned (up to $24,000). There were a few minor differences between the pilots and the real show. First off, when a major word was repeated, the judge would get on a loudspeaker himself and say the repeated word. (Bruce did it on the actual show). Also, on the real show, in the event of a tie, the team that caused the tie chose to play or pass. On the pilots, the champion team got to chose.

I don't like to spoil it too much, so I'll shut up right now. :) However, do allow me to show you some pictures from the second and third pilot episodes. (Just get around the fact that the set isn't as good as the actual set that was on the air. :)
