| "THE PYRAMID SERIES" ... RULES |
Pyramid was played in 2 different types of rounds that each had the same idea: To get your partner to say what the other is describing. Each team (two total) consisted of one celebrity player and one civilian. In the first round of play, the player would choose a catagory from 6 on a side pyramid. They then had 30 seconds in which to get 7 things or people communicated to each other. This in a way was much like the hit "Password". If you used part of the word in describing, the "Cookoo" bird would sound and the word was passed. In the main rounds of play, you could have chosen the special catagory that had prizes or cash to give away. In the first round, you could pick the "7-11" space that would give the contestant $1,100 if they answered seven correctly. In the second round, a "Mystery 7" was availible, in which the player would win a prize, from a stereo to a car, if they got all seven right. At the end of playing all 6 catagories, the team with the most points (a total of 21 could be earned), went on to the Winner's Circle, which I'll get to in a moment. In the event of a tie, the rules changed based on which version of the show you were on. (On the $10,000, $20,000, Cullen $25,000 and $50,000 editions, another round was played, while on the $25,000 and $100,000 editions the scores were reset). The team that caused the tie got to choose one of two letters that all of the answers began with. The players that got 7 correct in the shortest amount of time won by default and continued. The Winner's Circle was where the big money was won. While the concept was the same, the celebrity would now give the player a list of things that dealt with the topic that was given to them. They had 60 seconds to answer 6 correctly. The first time at the Bonus would give you $10,000 if you won, and the second time around was worth $25,000. On the $100,000 version, if you answered all 6 correctly the fastest, you came back in a special tournament for the hundred grand. If you did not get all six, you won money based on the hardness of the topic. ($50 for the 1st, $100 for the 2nd, to $300 for the 6th). The contestant that won the most money in the Winner's Circle rounds at the end of the game, got the chance to come back the next day to try again. |
